Being fully residential, College life is an integral part of the Choi Kai Yau experience. The many activities promotes curiosity, critical thinking, communication and camaraderie, in support of the whole-person development of our students. Activities range from informal ad-hoc floor gatherings, to discussion fora, educational seminars, lectures by distinguished speakers, cultural/arts events, festive celebrations, community service, as well as overseas service-learning and study trips. Students are strongly encouraged to take the initiative to propose and organize activities.

  • Formal Hall Dinners

Formal Hall Dinners are a signature of Choi Kai Yau College, where formally dressed students and Fellows gather for the much-anticipated feasts for the mind as well as for the senses. Distinguished guests-of-honour are invited to deliver keynote addresses, complemented by wonderful performances by talented students.

Seminars on a variety of topics are help regularly in College, with talks given by CKYC Fellows as well as esteemed outside speakers from the community and overseas.

The House Association and students often take the lead in organizing carnivals and get-togethers to celebrate various festivals of different cultures. The events are very popular with CKYC students and help to build the sense of belonging to the College.

  • Master’s Teas

Every week during term time, the Master takes tea with a small group of students. These occasions allow the Master to be better acquainted with the students and understand their concerns and aspirations for the College.

  • Hostel Activities

To provide pastoral care to the students, the Resident Tutors and Resident Assistants regularly organize floor gatherings, handicraft workshops and/or sports events, to help build friendships and team spirit among CKYC students.
