Professor Garry Wong was raised and educated in the United States earning his Bachelor’s degree in Toxicology from the University of California, Davis and Master’s and PhD degrees from North Carolina State University. After a post-doctoral period at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, USA, he moved to Finland where he served as a Visiting Researcher, Junior and Senior Fellow of the Academy of Finland, and Professor at the University of Eastern Finland.

He has published over 140 scientific articles and 2 textbooks in the fields of pharmacology, toxicology, neuroscience, molecular biology, genetics, and bioinformatics. He has supervised more than 25 students to the Ph.D. degree in Europe and Asia. His research mainly investigates the role of small noncoding RNAs in the regulation of genetic information in age related diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Diseases using the small round worm Caenorhabditis elegans.

Professor Wong joined the University of Macau in 2014 as professor of biomedical science and also serves since 2022 as GE Programme Director. He was awarded the University of Macau’s Teaching Excellence Award in 2022 and the Faculty of Health Sciences Teaching Award in 2016 and 2021. Before becoming Interim Master of Choi Kai Yau College, he was a nonresident fellow of the college since its founding in 2014.

黃值富教授在美國長大接受教育，先於美國加州大學戴維斯分校獲得毒理學學士學位，接著在北卡羅來納州立大學取得碩士和博士學位。黃教授完成美國馬裡蘭州貝塞斯達的美國國立衛生研究院博士後研究後便移居芬蘭，先後擔任芬蘭科學院訪問研究員、初級和高級研究員，以及東芬蘭大學教授。

黃教授在藥理學、毒理學、神經科學、分子生物學、遺傳學和生物資訊學領域發表了超過140篇科學論文和兩本教科書。他指導了超過25位學生在歐洲和亞洲取得博士學位。他的研究主要通過秀麗隱桿線蟲（Caenorhabditis elegans）研究小型非編碼RNA在阿茲海默症和帕金森氏症等老年相關疾病中遺傳訊息調控的作用。

黃教授於2014年加入澳門大學，擔任生物醫學科學教授，並自2022年起兼任通識教育課程主任。他曾於2022年榮獲澳門大學教學卓越獎，並於2016年和2021年榮獲健康科學學院教學獎。在擔任蔡繼有書院代院長之前，黃教授自該書院2014年成立以來一直是其非駐院導師。
