Choi Kai Yau College has successfully held two Formal Hall Dinners respectively on the evenings of 7 and 8 September, as the 1st and the 2nd Formal Hall Dinner of Academic Year 2023/2024. More than 100 staff and students attended the Formal Hall Dinners and gave warm and enthusiastic responses. For the 1st Formal Hall Dinner, Prof. MOK Kai Meng, Vice Rector (Student Affairs), was invited as the Keynote Speaker, while Prof. Kwok-cheung CHEUNG, Master of Moon Chun Memorial College, and Prof. YANG Liu, Master of Ma Man Kei and Lo Pak Sam College, were the Guests-of-Honour. For the 2nd Formal Hall Dinner, Prof. Desmond LAM, Master of Lui Che Woo College was invited as the Keynote Speaker, while Prof. Abdel LISSER of the University of Paris – Sarclay, was the Guest-of-Honour, encouraging students to strive for the best and be brave to accept challenges in the new academic year.
After the welcome remarks given by Master Janny LEUNG, and the speeches delivered by the Keynote Speakers, various brilliant performances in both Formal Hall Dinners heated up the atmosphere. These performances included the CKYC Choir singing the University of Macau anthem and CKYC anthem, a piano solo adaptation of “One Summer’s Day at Castle in the Sky with 千と千尋” by CKYC Student Gong Jinqi, a song performance “Someone like you” by College Student Gong Jinqi and Eve Jinjutha, and a martial arts performance by CKYC Student Iao Ho In. The College was honoured to invite our Guest-of-Honour Prof. Abdel LISSER to perform on the piano, receiving waves of applause and cheers. All the performers gave their best and set the audience into the cordial mood. The atmosphere was energized to a pinnacle again and again. Staff, guests, and students were impressed and satisfied with the joyful dining experience. Both dinners ended perfectly!
