News Flash! At 8pm on the Eve of the Mid-Autumn Festival on September 20, RTs and RAs of Choi Kai Yau College and the Resident Fellows went through every floor of the College. They knocked on every room door, while pushing along a cart full of mooncakes and cards with care and blessings.
Speaking of the Mid-autumn Festival, aside from the appreciation of the full moon and lanterns, everyone should have thought of mooncakes. “On the Mid-autumn Day of the 15th day of the Eighth month of the Lunar Calendar, people send each other mooncakes as festival gifts as the tradition, which means reunion and be together”. In addition to family reunions, giving away mooncakes as a gift during Mid-autumn Festival also celebrates the close relationship among relatives and friends.
To let the college students feel the warmth of the Mid-autumn Festival, the RTs and RAs of Choi Kai Yau College organized the activity of mooncake delivery at every floor of the College at Mid-autumn Festival Eve. The main purpose is to send the blessings to the college students and share the joy of the festival.
The RTRAs and Resident fellows, wearing masks for health measures, pushing trolleys full of mooncakes and cards of blessings, walked through every corridor from the 1st floor to the 7th floor. They rang the bell of every room, just to send the blessings in person, letting college students feel the warmth from the College, their second home.
On the way to every single room, RTRAs and Resident fellows found many doors being opened by the students to wait for them to come. Some students did not know about this surprise at all. Their eyebrows went up when they opened the door. Then, their cheeks raised with smile and eyes gleamed while receiving the mooncakes and the cards. Everyone looked so happy and the mission was completed perfectly.
CKYC RA Zhang Ziyue said that the College always gives away presents on holidays and festivals. “Because this is the first present give-away activity this year, we need to let the freshmen feel the warmth at College, we chose to knock on every door”.
The festival mooncake delivery activity of CKYC has been held successfully, some of the students who were not there during the activity have received the mooncakes from the RTRAs afterwards and they expect more activities like that in the future.
