In order to celebrate the 73rd anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Choi Kai Yau College (CKYC) and Cheng Yu Tung College (CYTC) from University of Macau (UM) jointly organized the National Day Movie Week from 10 to 16 October 2022. The two residential colleges presented five outstanding Chinese movies with the theme of patriotism, including “The Message”, “The Captain”, “Wandering Earth”, “Leap” and “My People, My Country”. Approximately 230 students and staff participated in this movie week, and they provided positive feedback. It is worth mentioning that Xia WenXin, Choi Lam, Yeung Weng Lok and Choi Chi Long who are the student ambassadors of UM Constitutional Law and Basic Law Youth Program, organized discussions among the participants for sharing their views after watching those movies. After watching “The Message”, the students stated that no matter whether we are in times of  war or in times of peace like nowadays, national security is an important basis for bringing peace and stability to a country, and it is also a vital mission for our generation. After watching “My People, My Country”, CKYC non-resident Fellow Prof Iau Teng Pio shared his study experience and encouraged students to be wholehearted devoted to the motherland, to have dreams in mind, to be ambitious and to keep both feet on the ground in order to create a splendid life in this great era. This movie week has aroused the spirit of patriotism among UM students and teaching staff, urging all of us to put more effort in making contributions to the prosperity of our great motherland.
