Choi Kai Yau College (CKYC) organized a Portuguese egg tart making workshop. The workshop was led by experienced bakers who introduced the origin, flavors, and preparation methods of Portuguese egg tarts. They personally demonstrated how to make the flaky pastry and the filling for the egg tarts. Portuguese egg tarts are highly popular in Macau and are hailed as the “soul food” of the region. The bakers expressed their hope that through this workshop, participants would gain an understanding of the cultural background of Portuguese egg tarts, experience the process of making them, and savor the deliciousness. Under the guidance of the bakers, the students also had a hands-on experience in making the Portuguese egg tarts. They diligently followed each step demonstrated by the bakers, occasionally helping and exchanging ideas with each other, creating a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. After the workshop, the students expressed that it was a highly meaningful and enjoyable activity. They not only learned the techniques of making Portuguese egg tarts but also gained a deeper understanding of the cultural characteristics of different places.
