CKYC formed a group of students to watch the concert “Unforgettable melodies at St. Dominic’s Church”, which was performed by the Macao Orchestra on February 10, 2023.
The Macao Orchestra is a local music performance group, composed of young musicians from more than 10 countries and regions, so it can integrate Chinese and Western cultures and bring high-quality classical music performances to the audience. There were 13 musical works in the concert, including some classic works, such as Prelude from The Barber of Seville, Lady of the Camellias (Prelude), and the soundtrack of the famous movie Cinema Paradise. The program includes pure orchestral performances as well as pieces that incorporate soprano singing. Sitting in the elegant and decorated St. Dominic’s Church, carefully listening to the blending of human voice and music can be called a feast of sight and sound.
To enhance cultural engagement of CKYC students, this activity allows students to observe the orchestra in a close distance and provides students with an opportunity to appreciate the beauty of the Western classical music tradition.
