Aligning with the educational policy of patriotism and love for Macau, as well as enhancing the patriotic sentiment of the students, eight students of Choi Kai Yau College of the University of Macau went to see the film “The Battle at Lake Changjin” at the Cinema Alegria on December 8, 2021, led by the College Master, Prof. Janny LEUNG.

The film was based on the Battle at Changjin Lake, the second battle of the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea, and told a dramatic story of the historical event that in 1950, the Chinese People’s Volunteer Army went to fight in North Korea. Under the extremely harsh natural and battlefield conditions, the volunteer army defeated the much better equipped American army and won the battle with their determined will and bravery. The film truthfully recreated the eventful period of those years and embodied the great revolutionary spirit of the volunteer army whose determination could not be damaged by ice or destroyed by wind and snow.

The students were touched after watching the film. The war was undoubtedly cruel, and the soldiers gave their all to get the victory. They sacrificed their youth and lives in exchange for today’s peace. As a new generation of youth, we should learn from the soldiers’ strong and unyielding will, as motivation for us to march forward on our life’s journey in the future.
