Kendo swordsmen must respect their opponents and meet particular standards for swordsmanship and physical health because the art is all about respect. Two experienced coaches, Mr. Eric Hoi and Mr. Hermes, as well as non-resident Fellow Prof. Chanthinka Pornpitakpan, were invited to run a Kendo Workshop at Choi Kai Yau College.

In the kendo sport, swordsmen must respect themselves and pay attention to details in order to focus on doing everything correctly. Kendo demands a positive mindset that is in harmony with one’s body, sword, and spirit. Swordsmen must maintain extreme concentration in order to actualise their momentum, posture, and actions. Learning basic moves won’t make you a champion, but mastery of them is necessary to becoming a good swordsman. The students gained a basic understanding of kendo as well as knowledge of customs, fundamental footwork, and sword swing of kendo through the workshop.
