On January 21, 2025, the Choi Kai Yau College House Association (CKYC HA) at the University of Macau successfully organized the “Double Serpent Fortune” Spring Festival celebration. The event attracted many participants and featured special guests from Meng Xiancheng College of East China Normal University, Chongshi College of Xi’an Jiaotong University, and Fengru College of Beihang University. This innovative event seamlessly blended traditional customs with modern elements, creating a unique cultural experience.
The celebration took place in the college dining hall, divided into four thematic zones. The traditional crafts area offered hands-on experiences in Chinese knot tying, couplet writing, and New Year painting printing. The interactive zone featured innovative games such as “Lucky Ring Toss” and “Lantern Riddles”.
A highlight was the “Four Divine Beasts” themed escape room, ingeniously integrating the legends of the Azure Dragon, White Tiger, Vermilion Bird, and Black Tortoise with the Nian monster story. The eight-chamber game incorporated elements of traditional Five Elements philosophy, challenging teams to solve puzzles and “expel the Nian monster” within 60 minutes. The game designer explained, “We aim to engage the younger generation with cultural heritage through immersive experiences.”
The CKYC HA President, remarked, “This celebration is not just a cultural feast but a valuable platform for cross culture youth exchange. We hope to foster cultural inheritance and innovation while strengthening cultural identity among the younger generation.”
