Since 2019, Choi Kai Yau College (CKYC) has been paving the way for helping Basha Primary School from Congjiang, Guizhou Province, through charity sales and volunteer teaching activities. This year, the Social Affairs Department of CKYC House Association, continued the support for the children with their best efforts, by launching the charity sale activity on 28 April.

In the morning, at the corridor outside E6, the students from the House Association had already prepared everything for the day. Handmade snowflake crisps, grapefruit honey sparkling water, lemon tea, masks, stickers and card covers, were on offer at the bazaar booth, to welcome the students and teachers who came to support. When the class periods end, the booth became extremely popular. Not only did the students came to pass on their love and charitable spirit, but also the professors showed care for the children. Some students chose to make generous donation to help the children of the Basha Primary School as well.

It was overwhelming with the generosity and support shown by different parties. The students at the booth in charge of taking orders and making drinks were so busy, but at the same time they were so moved by the kindness given by the teachers and students. Snowflake crisps and sparkling water became the most impressive things in the bazaar booth. In the afternoon, many of the students came to the booth especially for these lovely signature items!

In this charity sale, excluding all the costs, the total profit came to 592.2 RMB and 1853 MOP, which will be used for purchasing learning materials and sports equipment for the Basha Primary School, to enable the children to have a better learning environment and experience. The activity was held so successfully that students had learnt how to show their care and love to the unprivileged and gained a deeper understanding of the situation in Mainland. Those who ran the event had earned the opportunities to improve their organizational skills and enhance their teamwork. The friendship between the University, the College, and the Basha Primary School was further strengthened.

Let us spread our love to the children, to bring warmth to those who are in need.
