The Cantonese Fun Workshop organized by the CKYC House Association, aiming to deepen students’ understanding of Macau local culture and dialect, was held in the evening of 3 November 2021 in the College room G024.

This activity was arranged by the HA Administration Department. A total of 32 students from CKYC participated in the activity. The activity was mainly divided into three parts: a 40-minute lecturer’s small class, a 20-minute answering session, and a 30-minute dubbing simulation show. The starting of the workshop was smoother and more interesting than expected. The opening video which was carefully prepared by the speaker quickly enlivened the atmosphere and naturally introduced the theme of Cantonese teaching. The vocabulary explained in the lecturer’s small class was grounded and practical. At the same time, there were questions with snack rewards to strengthen the memory of vocabulary. Answering and dubbing imitation shows were the two more interactive links and participants tried their best to apply what they had just learned and kept making practice. Amid the laughter of everyone in the dubbing imitation show, the event ended successfully. In the end, the staff took photos of the most outstanding two groups and presented small prizes-custom Cantonese cards.

The workshop was popular and earned loads of positive feedbacks. Many participants left messages after the workshop, saying that they had gained a lot and hoped that the Cantonese fun workshop would become a series of activities to solve the language barrier between local students and mainland students.
