On October 21st, Choi Kai Yau College held the activity “Visiting elderly home care”. Led by one Resident Fellow, a group of ten CKYC students went to the nursing house called Asilo de Betânia in Macau to visit the elderly and bring warmth to them.
The students entered the elderly home, engaged in casual conversations with the elderly, listened to their stories and life experiences, gained insights from their wisdom, and at the same time, showed care and blessings to them to make the elderly feel warmth and happiness.
Respecting the elderly is a simple yet meaningful act. This activity gave the students a fulfilling experience and a closer glimpse into the community. The students learned the importance of showing compassion and empathy to others, they gained a more comprehensive understanding of the elderly, who have lived their lives to the fullest, are now in need of our community’s support and pastoral care.
