CKYC student Keith CHAN Chi Weng, was invited by his alma mater Sheng Kung Hui Choi Kou School (Macau) to deliver a lecture — “A Guide to the Residential Colleges of the University of Macau” to senior students preparing for university.  Since the Residential College System of UM is unique among all Macau universities, the students responded enthusiastically and the seats were full. This year is the 40th anniversary of University Macau. CHAN first introduced the history of UM and explained the residential college system. Secondly, CHAN shared his experiences in his three years of university life.

CHAN candidly shared his own story, including his student leadership experience in the CKYC House Association and off-campus experiences, such as working for the 2021 Census and as a volunteer in the recent NAT Program. CHAN wanted to present the message of “Communication”. “Endeavour”, “Contribution” and “Leadership” to all the students. He encouraged the students present to communicate and try bravely, to make every effort to participate in various affairs, and to develop their leadership abilities.

In the talk, CHAN spoke about assuming the role and identity as a college student, and using the educational opportunities to improve and validate oneself step-by-step, so one can achieve and do things that are valuable and meaningful. University life provides students different experiences and perceptions, so they can go one step further, to discover their potential, so as to better use their talents to lead others to contribute to society.

The lecture was rich and colorful, and the atmosphere was very enthusiastic. The students said that they had gained a lot in the talk.
