On the afternoon of 28 September 2022, the University of Macau (UM) National Flag Team and Choi Kai Yau College (CKYC) jointly organized a National Flag Culture Lecture. The representatives of the UM National Flag Team and more than 20 CKYC students participated in this activity. The lecture introduced the national flag culture, The National Flag Law, the amendments to The Use and Protection of the National Flag, National Emblem, and National Anthem by Macau SAR government, and also the development of the UM National Flag Team. This activity aims to promote the national flag culture and to inherit the spirit of patriotism and the national flag culture in CKYC. The students showed keen interest in the national flag culture and gained deeper understanding of the significance of the National Flag Team.
After the lecture, the UM National Flag Team members led the students to go through the tools used for the flag-raising ceremonies, such as the national flag and the ceremonial sword, and demonstrated the use of the equipment and movements. The UM National Flag Team increased students’ enthusiasm in learning the national flag culture in a fun and interesting way during the games section to reinforce their understanding of the lecture content. The atmosphere of the lecture was very lively when the students and the UM National Flag Team members interacted with each other. At the end, CKYC Master Prof. Janny Leung and the Functional Head of Student Resources Section Ms. Sabina Cheong exchanged souvenirs. CKYC has shown a strong support on the UM National Flag Team in promoting the national flag culture and spirit of loving country, loving Macau and loving university among students.
On 1 October 2022, which is the National Day, the UM National Flag Team organized a flag-raising ceremony at UM Lotus Square to congratulate our nation with the deepest respect.
