In order to inherit and carry forward China’s excellent traditional art culture, Mr. Ieong Keang Sang, a local Chinese calligrapher and painter, was invited to conduct a series of vivid and colorful calligraphy and painting classes for the students from Choi Kai Yau College and Stanley Ho East Asia College during the Lunar New Year period.  In the classes, Mr. Ieong demonstrated the correct way of writing basic strokes, the method of using brush and ink as well as introducing the right posture and wrist movement for Chinese calligraphy.  Through watching Mr. Ieong’s handwriting of a Chinese poem and painting of mountains, rocks and trees, together with Mr. Ieong’s interpretation, students’ understanding and enthusiasm towards Chinese calligraphy and painting have been enhanced to a new higher level.  They practiced and enjoyed the process of creating calligraphy and painting art in each class, and consequently being able to appreciate the charm and essence of traditional Chinese culture.
