Choi Kai Yau College organized a visit to the Pou Lei Centre of Fu Hong Society on September 13. The activity aimed to deepen students’ understanding of services for individuals with intellectual disabilities through visiting and interaction, while promoting the values of inclusivity and compassion.
At the start of the event, students were paired with service users to collaborate on a DIY tote-bag workshop. Using a variety of art materials, they brainstormed designs, applied colours and added decorations, producing unique pieces in a relaxed and joyful atmosphere. Laughter and mutual encouragement filled the room, fostering emotional connections and demonstrating the unifying power of collaborative art. Afterwards, staff guided teachers and students through the center’s facilities—including the vocational-training area, art studio and rehabilitation room—explaining the comprehensive support services offered to people with intellectual disabilities. These activities not only help individuals with intellectual disabilities feel accepted and valued, but also foster public awareness and understanding of diverse communities.
