Two-laws Ambassadors from Choi Kai Yau College organized a visit for students to the Legislative Council of Macau’s Open Day. This event not only allowed students to get close to Macau’s legislative institution but also provided them with an in-depth understanding of the legislative process through interactions with the President of the Legislative Council of Macau, Mr. Kou Hoi Ian, and various legislators.

The students entered the Legislative Council of Macau, where they were warmly welcomed by the legislators, who accompanied them on the tour and provided detailed explanations of the history, functions, and key roles of the Legislative Council in the development of Macau’s society. During the visit, they first arrived at the Legislative Hall, a solemn and dignified place where legislators discuss, review, and vote on bills. Guided by the staff, they learned about the meeting procedures and felt the rigor and significance of legislative work.

Next, they visited a photo exhibition where precious photographs documented its development, giving students a more intuitive understanding of Macau’s political system. To deepen students’ understanding of legislative work, the staff explained the entire legislative process, including the proposal, review, amendment, and final approval of bills. The students actively asked questions and engaged in lively discussions with the legislators, creating a very vibrant atmosphere.

The students who participated in this activity expressed that the visit was immensely beneficial. It not only broadened their horizons and provided a more comprehensive understanding of Macau’s political system and legislative work but also sparked their strong interest in legal knowledge, enhancing their sense of responsibility and mission as future builders of Macau. The Open Day event offered the public an opportunity to engage closely with the legislative institution, increasing public understanding and support for legislative work. It is believed that the experience of CKYC students during this visit will plant the seeds of the rule of law in their hearts, leading to a deeper understanding of the legislative system.
