On February 9, 2025, a wonderful djembe master class was held in Hong Kong. The instructor was the renowned Hiroki Murai. This event attracted the enthusiastic participation of students from Choi Kai Yau College of the University of Macau, bringing them an unforgettable music-learning experience.

Hiroki Murai started his career as an African drummer in 1998, mentored by the legendary Mamady Keita. Under the guidance of his master, he honed his skills and delved deep into the knowledge of African traditional music in Guinea, Mali, Senegal, and Europe. Through unremitting efforts, he obtained the certification and diploma of Tam Tam Mandingue Djembe Academy. Today, Hiroki Murai is active on the world stage, wearing multiple hats as an African drummer, performer, and teacher, achieving remarkable success in the music field.

In the master class, Hiroki Murai, with his rich teaching experience and unique teaching methods, vividly demonstrated the rhythmic charm of the djembe. He patiently guided students from Choi Kai Yau College in grasping the rhythm, controlling the intensity, and showcasing the djembe’s unique rhythm. The students were fully engaged, actively interacting, and immersed in the unique music world of the djembe. This djembe master class not only allowed the students to get in touch with the authentic African music culture but also provided them with a valuable opportunity to improve their musical skills and enriched their extracurricular lives.
