The Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) announced the Honours List for the year 2024, on 4 November. Based on the recommendations of the relevant nomination committee, the Chief Executive awarded medals, decorations, and certificates to several outstanding individuals and entities, recognizing their exceptional achievements, social contributions, or services to the Macao Special Administrative Region. Among the awardees, Professor IAU Teng Pio, and Professor MAK Pui In, who are CKYC Non-Resident Fellows, were awarded the Medal of Merit – Education by the SAR government, in recognition of their outstanding performance and significant contributions to the field of education. CKYC warmly congratulates and fully supports the two award-winning Fellows, expressing gratitude for their dedication to education and their efforts in academic research, which set an exemplary model for both teachers and students!

IAU Teng Pio is currently the Associate Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Macau, a member of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, a member of the Executive Council of the Macao Special Administrative Region, a member of the Legislative Assembly, and a member of the Chief Executive Election Committee. He holds a Bachelor of Law and a Master of Law (in Chinese) from the University of Macau, as well as a PhD from China University of Political Science and Law, Beijing. With over 20 years of experience in the field of education, he primarily teaches criminal procedure law, criminal law, civil procedure law, and administrative procedure law, and has authored several legal works and academic articles. He has also served as a lecturer at various institutions and has been invited multiple times to the mainland for legal talent training, where he teaches about the legal system of Macau and commercial dispute resolution mechanisms. Building on the Bachelor of law in Chinese language and Portuguese language at the University of Macau, he has actively promoted the establishment of a bilingual Chinese-Portuguese law program. His efforts have not only enhanced the quality of legal education but also fostered the development of bilingual talent in the region, making significant contributions to the advancement of legal education in Macau.

MAK Pui In is currently a Professor at the University of Macau, an overseas expert of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a foreign academician at the Lisbon School of Economics and Management in Portugal. He is also the Director of the State Key Laboratory of Analog and Mixed-Signal VLSI at the University of Macau. He has been elected as a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), achieving significant accomplishments in research and talent development in the field of integrated circuits. In 2009, he led the development of the “Two-Step Channel Selection for Wireless Receiver Front-Ends”, which brought the first technology patent registered in the United States to the University of Macau. In 2011, the integrated circuit technology he co-developed was awarded the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, marking the first time Macau received this honor. In 2022, his development of battery-free smart electronic technology won the “Tencent Xplorer” Science Exploration Award, making him the first scholar from Macau to receive this accolade. He is dedicated to nurturing outstanding talent and has trained over 30 doctoral students, making significant contributions to the research and education sector in Macau. He was also awarded the Honorific Title – Merit by the Macao Special Administrative Region in 2005.
