On the evening of February 2nd, Choi Kai Yau College held its monthly CKYC x Faculty Gathering, a faculty-student dining and sharing event. This month focused on the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Health Sciences, featuring non-resident fellows including Prof. IAU Teng Pio and Prof. Rostam J. Neuwirth from the Faculty of Law, as well as Prof. Henry Kwok, Prof. Yan Ru, Prof. Zheng Ying, Prof. Chris Wong, Prof. Wang Peng, Prof. Shim Joong Sup, and Prof. Park Jung Woo from the Faculty of Health Sciences. Prof. Garry Wong, Interim Master of the College, delivered the opening welcome speech, expressing sincere gratitude to all the professors for their presence.

The “CKYC x Faculty Gathering” aims to foster in-depth interaction between faculty and students outside the classroom, creating a relaxed yet inspiring atmosphere for dialogue. The event attracted not only students majoring in law and health sciences but also those from other disciplines who are interested in these fields. During the dinner, lively conversations took place around topics such as academic aspirations, career planning, study methods, and personal interests. The professors provided detailed responses to students’ questions and offered personalized advice based on individual strengths, leaving attendees feeling inspired and motivated.

The event also served as a platform for interaction among students from different year levels. Many freshmen noted that through conversations with professors and senior students, they gained a clearer understanding of their academic pathways and personal development, leading to more diverse reflections on future planning. The dinner was filled with a warm and engaging atmosphere, and even as it concluded, participants expressed that the exchange was both rare and rewarding, with many lingering to continue the discussions.

To further support freshmen in adapting to university academic life, Choi Kai Yau College launched the monthly “CKYC x Faculty Gathering” dinner series starting in the 2024/2025 academic year. The initiative aims to bring together non-resident fellows, senior students, and freshmen from the same faculties to share experiences and insights on professional courses, study planning, summer research, exchange programs, and major selection. Since the beginning of the 2025/2026 academic year, the College has already hosted specialized sessions for the Faculty of Science and Technology in September, the Faculty of Social Sciences in October, and the Faculty of Business Administration in November. To date, a total of 30 professors from different academic disciplines have been invited to dine and interact with over 250 CKYC students. The event has been widely praised by both faculty and students, effectively strengthening connections and interactions among peers and mentors outside the classroom.
