The Macao Basic Law Youth Ambassador Promotion Association organized a delegation to Beijing for a series of study and exchange activities in early December, 2025. As a member of the association, TAM Wai San, a graduate of UM Choi Kai Yau College, participated in the delegation and visited the Peking University Law School.
During the symposium at Peking University Law School, Tam engaged in in-depth discussions with the faculty and students on topics such as Basic Law promotion and the development of the rule of law. This visit proved to be immensely rewarding for Tam, who shared his profound reflections:
“I feel deeply honored to have participated as a member of the ‘Basic Law Youth Promotion Ambassadors 10th Anniversary Beijing Exchange Delegation’. During this trip, we visited several core national institutions and engaged in exchanges with experts and scholars from various fields, including former members of the Basic Law Drafting Committee, professors from Peking University, and representatives from the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Special Administrative Region. These valuable experiences have given me a deeper understanding and clearer goals for promoting the Constitution and the Basic Law.
I have come to appreciate deeply that promoting the Basic Law is not merely about transferring knowledge but also about planting ideas. Its ultimate significance lies in enabling every citizen to see, touch, and genuinely understand how the Basic Law safeguards their rights and lives. This is a long-term endeavor that requires sustained commitment and careful nurturing.
Looking ahead, I sincerely hope that the spirit of the Constitution and the Basic Law will become increasingly widespread and ingrained in people’s hearts. I also wish for Macau society to continue thriving and developing stably on the foundation of the rule of the law.”
In addition to the visit to Peking University, the delegation also toured locations such as the China Court Museum and the Exhibition on the History of the Communist Party of China. Tam’s participation and thoughtful reflections exemplify the positive spirit of Choi Kai Yau College students, who care about society and actively engage in the promotion of the Basic Law.
