At the 30th ‘21st Century Cup’ National English Speaking Competition grand final and the 7th China Daily Belt and Road Youth English Speaking Competition global final held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, students from the University of Macau (UM) delivered outstanding performances, winning a first prize and a second prize in the ‘21st Century Cup’, as well as a second prize in the international category of the ‘Belt and Road’ competition. This year’s ‘21st Century Cup’ attracted more than 600,000 participants from over 30 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions across the country.
Edward Daniel Alfaro, a student from UM Choi Kai Yau College, won a second prize in the international category of the ‘Belt and Road’ competition. His success was supported by Chan Ka Lon, coach of the UM Public Speaking Team and an instructor in the English Language Centre, who provided him with professional training and guidance throughout the competitions.
